I picked this up a few weeks ago and I'm not sure what it is? I has writing around the edges that is hard to decipher except of one part that says King Aurther. It's really cool though and just sits on a table with some other Autherian themed things.

i'm not sure, but that's most definitely the tudor rose emblem (joining the red and white tudors... war of the roses, etc in tudor history). king arthur...in relation to the tudors was king henry the 8th's brother, who died young leaving henry as heir to the throne (henry later married catherine of aragon, who was initially arthur's wife...and as i'm sure you know he went on to marry 5 other women over the course of his life)... but i still don't know what exactly it is that you have there! :) how big is it?
ReplyDeleteHello...love a mystery...and thanks to google I can tell you that this is a replica of the Round Table (of the famous King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table fame). It actualy exists in Winchester, England. The names around the table are of the Knights...very hard to read but you can sort of see Galahad and Lancelot. You can use the link below...or google "great hall round table Winchester" if you don't trust anonymous links.Hope that helps.

P.S Looking at the shop of the Great Hall...if it is 22cm in diameter then it was sold as a placemat...if it's 30cm, then it's a bread board (perish the thought!) and finally maybe a coaster if it is 12cm. Anyway..it looks good with the Arthur collection.
